CineVegas Daily Report:
June 10, 2005 Opening night:

Hollywood Reporter hosted its third reception for CineVegas tonight June 10th.  It was a nice gathering
of filmmakers, attendees, press and celebrities.  It was at the Ghostbar atop the Palms Hotel where you
can see almost all of Las Vegas below.  It is a great view and always a great reception for invited guests
before CineVegas kicks off.  Dennis Hopper, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and other celebrities were there.  Some
cast members of "Hustle & Flow" the opening night film came to the reception.  Then after the film there
was a party at "Skin" at the Palms Hotel.    The parties are fun, lots of food to nibble on drinks and just
talking with people in the film industry.

At the opening night film, John Singleton talked about "Hustle & Flow" which he produced.  He
introduced the cast members that were there.  This film is one of the few films I have seen with such a
great ensemble of actors.  They were all outstanding.  The rap music was not all that bad, I am not a big
fan of rap music, but it was good.  The film is about a street hustler who is having a mid-life crisis.  He
asks his friend to help hip cut a demo song trying to become a successful rapper.   Things do not turn
out like he wanted, but the main theme was go after your dreams.  I think it had a good underlining moral
that young people can relate to.

The MTV Film "Hustle & Flow," was directed by Craig Brewer ("Water’s Edge").  Cast includs Terrence
Howard, Ludacris, Taryn Manning, Isaac Hayes and DJ Qualls.

If you can get down to the Palms and see the other great films showing at the festival and also many
celebrities are lined up to get awards and just to attend.  Something is always happening in Las Vegas!
