2005 CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL
June 10-18, 2005
At the Palms Casino Resort and Brenden Theaters
The 7th Annual CineVegas Film Festival This Year Celebrated 100 Years of Vegas and 100 Years of Film
|
Dennis Hopper again served as CineVegas Film Festival
Chairman of the Creative Advisory Board.
During the day, festivalgoers had the chance to see the best
in American independent and premiere films and enjoy
exclusive panels hosted by celebrated writers, producers and
filmmakers. At night, Las Vegas is the backdrop for nine
nights of sponsored events at the hottest nightclubs and a
one of a kind. There was a “Viva Las Vegas” party at the Skin
Pool Lounge at the Palms, and an official City of Las Vegas
Centennial event.
This was the best CineVegas Film Festival! There were some great films,
and parties. I just wish I had time to check them all out. I saw ten features,
the UNLV Showcase and some of the Nevada Film Showcase, including a
great short film.
There were 63 screenings of films this year, and seven entertainement personalities
were honored (Nicolas Cage, Samantha Morton, Christopher Walken, Ann- Margret, Wim
Wenders, George A. Romero and Rhonda Fleming), there were also a dozen world and
U.S. premieres.
7th Annual CineVegas Film Festival Winners
"In Memory of My Father" Received the "Grand Jury Prize"
"Red Doors" Received the "Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Acting"
"Buy It Now" Received the "Audience Award"
The Festival ended with a world premiere of the "2005 Vanguard Director
Award" George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead."
There were zombies roaming the halls of the Brendan Theatres giving the attendees
waiting in line a fun time. They had a "Red Carpet" outside with a big "Land of the
Dead" sign on the scaffolding.
Comments from Robin Greenspun and Trevor Groth about the 2005
CineVegas Film Festival.
President Robin Greenspun said, "This year's Festival was a spectacular success on all
fronts: record attendance, more filmmakers and industry attending than ever before,
and an enormously positive response from festival-goers to the films and special
programs we offer."
Festival Director of Programming Trevor Groth said, "The quality of films in this year's
festival set the bar even higher, and it is rewarding to witness the overwhelming
audience response to our diverse slate of offerings. In addition, a number of films
generated strong distributor interest and potential sales deals."
