Director Gela Babluani

Cast: Georges Babluani, Aurélien Recoing, Pascal
Bongard, Fred Ulysse, Nicolas Pignon, Vania Vilers
The film is a suspense-thriller that has you sitting on the edge of your seat, and takes you on a journey
where you are not sure where it will lead.  There is non-stop intrigue around every bend.  In the style of
Alfred Hitchcock type thriller’s Gela Babluani (director) takes you along for a ride that you do not know
until halfway through the film what is happening.  Then everyone is watching the light bulb wondering
what will happen.  You never know what will happen to Sebastien until the very end.  It reminded me so
much of Hitchcock’s surprise endings.

The director born in Tblissi in Georgia 26, the son of the director Temur Babluani follows in his father’s
footsteps.  This film is well directed; the photography and storyline are so intriguing.  What also makes
it even more interesting is that it is in black and white.  As the director told us after the film he did that
so color would not take away from the story.  I think black and white adds to the suspense in a film, as
the old films of other famous directors.  Babluani said “The Godfather I” influenced him very much in
filmmaking.

Babaluani captures his characters quite well, and when you realize that most of them were not actors it
is even more amazing.  The young actor Georges Babluani playing the lead in his first film is amazing.
His acting and facial expressions make you feel for the character.

A clean-faced 22-year-old, Sebastien (Georges Babluani), leads an impoverished life with his immigrant
family, constantly struggling to find the money for their next meal. When hired to repair the roof of the
morphine-addicted Godon (Philippe Passon), Sebastien eavesdrops in on a conversation, which
appears to offer a quick and easy solution to his money troubles.

When Godon suddenly falls dead Sebastien decides to follow the instructions, meant for the recently
deceased addict, in a desperate bit to secure some income for himself and his family.

He then becomes embroiled in what appears to be a wild goose chase, taking on the identity of Godon
and following a series of clues, which lead him ever closer to his impending fate. The trail eventually
leads Sebastien into the heart of the French countryside and face to face with a ring of clandestine
gamblers who bet on human lives. From this point on there is no turning back.
