HATHAWAY TO STAR IN WARNER BROS. PICTURES’ AND VILLAGE ROADSHOW
PICTURES’ GET SMART
LOS ANGELES — ShoWest has named Anne Hathaway ShoWest Female Star of the Year, it
was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event, which will be held
March 10 -13, 2008 in Las Vegas . Hathaway will be presented with the ShoWest Female Star
of the Year award at ShoWest’s closing night ceremony on Thursday, March 13 at Bally's and
Paris Las Vegas.
“Since making her big screen debut in The Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway has gone on to
engage audiences of all ages with a broad range of roles, which is quite a testament to this
extremely talented young actress,” noted Neuhauser. “From her roles as a naïve young
assistant in The Devil Wears Prada, a feisty cowgirl in Brokeback Mountain, a Jane Austen
heroine in Becoming Jane and a reluctant princess in The Princess Diaries and The Princess
Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Hathaway has proven to audiences that she can carry any role
that comes her way. We are honored to name Anne Hathaway ShoWest’s Female Star of the
Year.”
This summer, Hathaway stars opposite Steve Carell in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village
Roadshow Pictures’ action comedy Get Smart, opening June 20, 2008 . Carell plays Agent
Maxwell Smart, who is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil
crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of the U.S. spy agency Control is
attacked, and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but
to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field
alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson). Smart is partnered, instead, with the
lovely but lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). Given little field experience and even less
time, Smart—armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm—
must thwart the doomsday plans of KAOS head Siegfried (Terence Stamp).
Hathaway has also recently completed production in several films including: the drama
Passengers, co-starring Patrick Wilson and directed by Rodrigo Garcia, as well as the Jonathan
Demme comedy Dancing with Shiva co-starring Debra Winger. Hathaway will next begin
production on the romantic comedy Bride Wars in which she stars with Kate Hudson under the
direction of Gary Winick.
Hathaway began her career studying acting at the Paper Mill Playhouse before being the first
and only teen ever admitted into the award-winning Barrow Group acting program. She first
gained Hollywood ’s attention with her role on the acclaimed series Get Real prior to making her
big screen debut in The Princess Diaries. Hathaway shot to stardom starring opposite Meryl
Streep in the box-office hit The Devil Wears Prada. She was most recently seen in Becoming
Jane, a Jane Austen biopic in which she plays the title role, starring opposite Maggie Smith and
James McAvoy. Hathaway’s other film credits include Brokeback Mountain, Havoc, Ella
Enchanted, Nicholas Nickleby, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Hoodwinked and
The Other Side of Heaven.
