Brendan Fraser will receive the Distinguished Decade of Achievement in Film Award from
ShoWest, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event, which
will be held March 10 -13, 2008 in Las Vegas. Fraser will be presented with the Distinguished
Decade of Achievement in Film Award at ShoWest’s closing night ceremony on Thursday,
March 13th at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.
“From his roles in action packed blockbusters such as The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and
George of the Jungle, to his critically acclaimed roles in such independent films as Crash and
Gods and Monsters, Fraser has delivered many inspirational performances over the past
decade,” said Neuhauser. “We are honored to present Fraser with the Distinguished Decade of
Achievement in Film award at this year’s ShoWest convention.”
Brendan Fraser can be seen later this year in, Journey 3-D, the first live action digital 3-D
movie ever. Based on the classic Jules Verne novel Journey to the Center of the Earth,
Journey 3-D is an exhilarating adventure staring Fraser as a science professor whose
untraditional hypotheses have made him the laughing stock of the academic community. On an
expedition in Iceland, he and his nephew stumble upon a major discovery that launches them on
a thrilling journey deep beneath the Earth’s surface where they travel through never-before-
seen worlds and encounter a variety of unusual creatures. Journey 3-D is directed by Academy
Award-winning visual effect veteran Eric Brevig (Total Recall, Pearl Harbor.) The film which is
a co-venture between New Line Cinema and Walden Media is scheduled to be released on July
11, 2008.
Fraser will also be seen in New Line Cinema’s family adventure/fantasy film, Inkheart, opposite
Helen Mirren, Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent and Andy Serkis. The film is slated for a 2009
release. Fraser will return to the screen again, during the summer of 2008, in the third
installment of The Mummy franchise for Universal Pictures, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon
Emperor.
Since making his feature film debut in 1992’s Encino Man Fraser has gone on to garner critical
acclaim for his versatile and inspired performances. He has seen success in thought-provoking
material such as School Ties, With Honors, Mrs. Winterbourne and The Twilight of the Golds
and a string of roles in some of the most successful independent films of the past decade
including Crash, The Quiet American, and Gods and Monsters. Box office success has also come
Fraser’s way with the success of George of the Jungle, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.
